Who we are

Americans for Accountability (“we,” “us”) is an independent expenditure-only political committee registered with the Federal Election Commission. This policy explains what information we collect through this website and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us. When you join our list we ask for your email address and ZIP code, and optionally your name, mobile phone number, and areas where you can help. When you contribute through ActBlue, ActBlue collects your name, address, payment details, employer, and occupation and shares with us the information federal law requires us to report.
  • Information collected automatically. If analytics are enabled, we use a privacy-respecting analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

  • To send you email updates you asked for.
  • To send you text messages, only if you separately opted in. Reply STOP at any time to stop.
  • To comply with federal campaign finance law, including reporting contributor information to the FEC.
  • To understand how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.

Text messaging

Text message consent is separate from email consent and is never required to join our list, to contribute, or to use this site. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. [PLACEHOLDER] Add the committee’s short code or sending number and carrier disclosures as required by the messaging provider.

Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share it only with vendors who process it on our behalf (email and text delivery, contribution processing), with the FEC as required by law, and when required by legal process. [PLACEHOLDER] Counsel to confirm whether list exchanges or data-sharing with allied organizations will occur and update this section accordingly.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from email using the link in any message, stop texts by replying STOP, and request access to or deletion of your information by emailing the address on our Contact page. [PLACEHOLDER] Counsel to confirm state-specific rights (for example, California and other state privacy laws) and any required disclosures.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

We will post any changes here with a new “last updated” date.
