Our mission

A narrow map, a fast response, and open books.

We exist to hold MAGA-aligned candidates accountable to their own records in the House districts that decide the majority.

Mission statement

Control of the U.S. House is decided in a few dozen districts, and within them by a few thousand voters who do not follow politics closely and do not trust what they are told by either side.

Americans for Accountability exists to reach those voters with the record. We identify a small number of closely contested House districts where the MAGA-aligned candidate’s own votes, statements, and public conduct are at odds with what the district wants, and we put that record in front of voters quickly, clearly, and with every claim tied to a public document.

We are not a message-testing operation or a national brand. We are a narrow, fast, documented effort, and we publish how we spend every dollar so donors and reporters can check our work.

What we do

  • Pick a narrow map. Three to five districts at a time, chosen by the published criteria below and announced on this page with the date each was added.
  • Move fast on facts. A new vote, filing, or statement can become a finished, sourced video within 48 hours.
  • Keep open books. Our spending summary is updated with every FEC report, officer pay is capped and published, and two outside advisors can review our books at any time.

What we do not do

  • We do not coordinate with any candidate, candidate’s committee, or party committee. Our work is independent by law and by design.
  • We do not run claims we cannot source to a public record.
  • We do not spend on districts that fall outside the published criteria without first updating the criteria here.

Targeting criteria

Last updated January 1, 2026

A district is eligible for the map only when all of the following are true. The list of districts that currently qualify, and the date each was added, is published in the table below this section.

  1. Competitive. The most recent general election in the district was decided by fewer than eight points, or the district’s presidential vote differs from its House vote by more than five points, or at least two independent non-partisan ratings place the seat in a toss-up or lean category.
  2. A documented gap. The MAGA-aligned candidate has a public record (roll-call votes, sponsored legislation, court filings, FEC reports, public statements on the record) that is materially at odds with positions a majority of the district’s voters hold, as shown by public polling or election results.
  3. Reachable. The district’s media market allows digital and local placements at a cost where a committee of our size can reach persuadable voters at meaningful frequency.
  4. Not crowded out. Our dollars are not duplicating a larger, well-funded independent effort already running the same message in the district.
  5. Approved on the record. Two officers and at least one outside advisor have signed off on adding the district, and the sign-off is noted in the table.

A district is removed when it stops meeting criterion 1 or 2, when polling shows the race is no longer within reach, or when the committee cannot fund a meaningful program there. Removals are also dated in the table.

[PLACEHOLDER] The thresholds above are starting points. Replace them with the numbers the committee adopts, and keep the date in this file’s updated field current whenever the criteria change.
